SRM20 Soil Re-Mineraliser
SRM20 is an altered mafic volcanic mineral product that was created by a unique event, in which hot basalt lava flowed into a silica rich freshwater lake in Queensland, around 20 million years ago.
The primary benefit of SRM20, is that, it is the building block or house for microbial activity to flourish.
Globally we are seeing the disastrous effects of our extractive and
unsustainable agricultural system on the planet’s environment.
A large percentage of our food-growing soils are now mineral
-depleted, over-farmed and mismanaged. It is no understatement
that without healthy functioning soils, society, as we know it would
collapse. In fact, many historians have tracked the rise and fall of
civilisations alongside the curve of soil health.
CATION EXCHANGE CAPACITY
The cation exchange capacity, (CEC), which is a measure of a soils ability to attract, store, and exchange moisture and nutrients, is an important driver of fertility. The CEC value of most soils should range between 10 and 25 meq/100g. Standard SRM20 has a CEC of 20.4 meq/100g, this is a significant advantage to soil fertility.
A RICH SOURCE OF READILY AVAILABLE ELEMENTS
EXCHANGEABLE CATIONS
Calcium 42%
Magnesium 10%
Potassium 20%
Sodium 28%
SRM20 has ten times more available silicon than most other mineral deposits.
HOLDS UP TO 50% OF ITS WEIGHT IN WATER
Without losing its fine granular consistency. This unique property will play a key role in repairing many of our damaged soils which have lost much of their ability to hold water. It will stop leaching, runoff of other applied fertilizers, and will help limit erosion of precious top soils.
IMPROVES SOIL STRUCTURE
SRM20 is an altered basalt. This unique material contains a rich, well-balanced, and comprehensive suite of readily available mineral nutrients – SRM20 is an amorphous non crystalline plant and microbe available mineral source.
STOCK FEED ADDITIVE
SRM20, when applied to the soil, as well as being included in animal feed rations and mineral blocks, has demonstrated rapid improvements with animal health, and soil fertility.
OVER FERTILISED SOIL
Simply put, it is the basis for our existence. Compaction, erosion, chemical residues, essential mineral nutrient depletion and a damaged soil microbiome are all issues that SRM20 can assist with effectively unlocking fertilisers that are held within the soil, allowing them to become plant available.
The soil re-mineraliser improves silicon nutrition, enhanced trace element supply, alteration of the soil’s physical properties and modification of mycorrhizal populations.
Support the microbes, feed the soil
By remineralising the soil in the pastures, and the animals, with a readily available and comprehensive suite of essential mineral nutrients, we can now easily correct long standing mineral deficiencies caused by extractive farming and grazing methods to improve the nutrient density and quality of our soils and crops.
